Since the early 90s, according to Interpol, commercial losses around the world due to counterfeiting were estimated at more than $5 billion. Today, they are closer to $500 billion.
The implementation of effective pharma and alcohol anti-counterfeiting, anti-forgery and anti-smuggling solutions needs the involvement of brand owners, international organisations and the general public; indeed, brand owners in some industries are being faced with government-imposed control mechanisms for supply chain security to eliminate all forms of global illicit trade.
