Concerned by the conditions in his country, Thomas Gad wanted to be part of a greater cause through his daily job. Since March 2017, he enjoys each day in the company as a Software Engineer.
What was your perception of SICPA before joining?
I had the perception of an international company with good work ethics, standards, offering a good remuneration and taking care of employees’ well-being.
Why did you join SICPA? What convinced you to join SICPA?
I joined SICPA, first, with the aim of deepening my knowledge by learning and working with the various platforms and solutions used at SICPA. The second reason is that it is important for me to be part of a noble cause, which is possible through the solutions proposed by SICPA to governments.
Why do you enjoy working at SICPA?
I appreciate working at SICPA for many reasons. I appreciate the effort that SICPA is making to adopt new technologies. I also appreciate their concern for the well-being of employees as well as being able to work with teams around the world thanks to the solutions offered by the company.
What did SICPA bring to you professionally and personally?
It allowed me to grow professionally, to develop my skills and be specialised in a certain profession. I also had the chance to be part of different trainings and pass several certifications. Personally, meeting and creating positive relations with new people and travelling abroad was enlightening for me. Besides, good work ethics also ensure a peace of mind.
Could you describe a team project which you are particularly proud of?
There are two different projects which I am really proud of. The first one is the Tableau Reporting that was a key element in promoting self-service Business Intelligence with the customers and also internally. The second was, in 2019, the implementation of the extension of the non-alcoholic beverages project, juices and bottled water, because it was a big project needing a great effort of collaboration between the teams.
What kind of interactions do you experience between teams, departments or even countries in your daily work at SICPA?
There is an open-door policy that promotes effective communication and openness. There are also multiple effective means of communications implemented by the company for us to work remotely with teams all over the world.
What are the dimensions you like the most in your job at SICPA?
There are four different dimensions that I particularly like at SICPA: First, the sense of community that we feel in our daily work. Then, the engaging work done by every employee as well as the optimism and the fostering of creativity and innovation. To finish, the authenticity of the company and the people working in it are really inspiring.
If you had an advice to give to people willing to follow the same path, what would it be?
If you're interested in working with great teams and learning constantly, take charge of your life and have fun while you're at it.
