Martinez

Celebrating her 10th anniversary at SICPA in 2020, Desiré Martinez could not have imagined enjoying her work at the company so much. Indeed in 2010, when a friend advised her to apply for a job at SICPA, she realised that the multicultural nature of the company would correspond very well to her own character.

What was your perception of SICPA before joining?

I did not know a lot about SICPA before my friend recommended the company to me. Once he did, I quickly understood that confidentiality was a central feature considering the company’s clients.

What was your previous experience before joining?

When I started working at SICPA, I had already worked in six different software development companies before in Caracas, Madrid and Italy.

Why do you enjoy working at SICPA?

I really like the multicultural atmosphere at SICPA. You can be talking to people around the world as if they were just next to you. It really brings another dimension to our work. The second element that I particularly enjoy is the multiple sides of business.

« SICPA brought me a lot of development opportunities over the years. Indeed if you are interested in evolving, they will support you along the way. » Desiré Martinez

What did SICPA bring to you professionally and personally?

SICPA brought me a lot of development opportunities over the years. Indeed if you are interested in evolving, they will support you along the way. In ten years, I also had the chance to build many relationships with my colleagues, which is important since we spend most of our days at work.

What is your main objective in your job?

The main objective of my job is to coordinate and help teams to achieve their goals. I am responsible for the harmony of the team and it requires daily follow-up.

What kind of interactions do you experience between teams, departments or even countries in your daily work at SICPA?

I am in contact with people all day long. I attend meetings to coordinate project deliveries and releases, to coordinate with peers, to align on the collaboration of people in different projects as well as to organise training and follow-up on agreed actions.

If you had some advice to give to people willing to follow the same path, what would it be?

My advice would be to make effort to understand the big picture and have the willingness to get things done.

If you could choose only three words to describe SICPA and your daily life at SICPA, what would they be?
