SICPA Togo promotes product marking for market transparency
On August 28 in Lomé, a sensitisation meeting brought together trade actors and consumer protection officials to discuss fair competition, consumer rights, and product marking. Organised by the Ministry of Commerce with SICPA Togo and CCI-Togo, the initiative aims to strengthen market regulation and ensure consumer safety. SICPA’s involvement highlights its role in promoting product marking as a key tool for traceability and trust.
Sustainability
Safety for all
Concerned about the well-being of its employees and public safety, SICPA Togo launched a road safety program in April 2024. So far, 80% of employees have been trained in defensive driving and have taken the motorcycle license exam. Upon completing the training, each participant receives a certified motorcycle helmet that meets international safety standards.
Agroecology and access to water
Inaugurated on 29 December 2023, in the village of Djatokopé (Agbandi), the solar-powered borehole funded by SICPA Togo provides 30 m³ of drinking water daily to over 1,500 nearby residents. At the same time, 69 beneficiaries, 70% of whom are women, were trained in agroecological practices and received kits of organic inputs. This continuous water source also enabled the creation of a "farmer field school" near the borehole, promoting the adoption of sustainable farming techniques and income generation during dry seasons.
Reforesting differently
Launched in June 2022 on Tree Day, this three-year project led to the planting of 3,000 seedlings across a total area of 5 hectares in Adangbé. Thanks to the involvement of local communities and financial support from SICPA Togo, the survival rate of the seedlings reached 95%, making a tangible contribution to the government’s goal of planting 1 billion trees by 2030. In addition to reforestation, the project includes intercropping with food crops to support local communities.
