SICPA congratulates the Kenya Revenue Authority
SICPA congratulates the Kenya Revenue Authority on winning the Best Tax Stamp Programme Award 2014
The Best Tax Stamp Programme was awarded to Kenya Revenue Authority for its Excisable Goods Management System to eliminate illicit trade and enhance tax collection.
The Awards Ceremony took place during the 5th Tax Stamp Forum organised by Reconnaissance International in Dubaï on September 15-17, 2014.
The Excellence in Tax Stamps Awards recognises the important role that tax stamp programmes play in combating illicit trade and protecting tax revenues.
This system for the protection of excise tax revenue has been developed, deployed and is operated by SICPA. It comprises an enhanced excise stamp with multiple security layers for various stakeholders along the supply chain. As a result, Kenya Revenue Authority has seized over 300,000 illegitimate products from about 900 outlets, prosecuted more than 150 offenders and increased excise revenue on spirits by 53% between February and June 2014.
Over 230 delegates from governments, law enforcement, manufacturers, security printers and technology providers took part in the Tax Stamp Forum and explored the global drivers behind illicit trade, shared best practice from successful programmes and learnt about the latest innovative technologies and techniques.
