SICPA Government Security Solutions Expands in Asia Pacific, with Singapore as Regional HQ

SICPA Government Security Solutions, the world leader in secure track and trace solutions for governments, opened its new Asia Pacific regional headquarters in Singapore today.

Government officials from several countries in the region attended the opening. Minister of State for Finance and Transportation Josephine Teo was the Guest of Honor.

Minister of State for Finance and Transportation Josephine Teo said: «We welcome SICPA’s decision to base its regional headquarters in Singapore for its plans for its Asia-Pacific expansion.  We believe there are many opportunities for SICPA resulting from the rise in demand for authentication and traceability solutions, and look forward to supporting SICPA's innovation efforts.»

SICPA Government Security Solutions’ new premises will act as a base for its activities in Asia Pacific. «The opening of this new regional centre is a response to the growing need in Asia for the services SICPA Government Security Solutions provides.  Due to its incredible socioeconomic and geographical diversity it is, perhaps, one of the regions most affected by loss of government revenues as a result of the illicit trade in excisable products. Our expanded operations bring us closer to governments in the region, providing more opportunities for dialogue and consultation with them,» explains SICPA Regional Managing Director for APAC, Dr. Myron Seto.

SICPA has had operations in Asia for many years. Its Government Security Solutions Division chose Singapore as a regional base because of its strategic location and its history of being open to business, making it a safe, secure and dynamic place to operate a business from.

SICPA Government Security Solutions helps governments protect tax revenues and deliver policy objectives by giving them visibility and control of the supply chain of products susceptible to fraud such as alcohol and tobacco, through its unique system called SICPATRACE®. The system combines highly sophisticated secure marking of products with advanced data management and reporting, and is designed to best meet various government requirements, including those outlined in Article 8 of the WHO’s Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products, adopted in November 2012.  SICPA’s facilities in Singapore include a Demo Centre that showcases how SICPATRACE® works.
