Branca
Colin Branca joined SICPA in 2020 as a Software Engineer Intern, shortly after earning his Master’s degree in Computer Science from EPFL.
Over the past five years, he has steadily advanced within the company, taking on greater responsibilities and contributing to impactful projects. His journey reflects both the opportunities available at SICPA and his personal drive to learn, grow, and take initiative at every stage of his career.
How did your journey at SICPA begin, and what were your first impressions?
From day one, I felt welcomed and trusted. After a brief learning period, I was quickly given real responsibilities not just side tasks which made me feel like a true member of the team. I also discovered a collaborative and respectful environment where people are always willing to help.
What are some key responsibilities you’ve taken on since joining?
Early on, I had the chance to work on new applications, from architectural design all the way to integration into broader solutions. This even gave me the opportunity to travel and collaborate with colleagues abroad.
Alongside my development work, I took on the role of SCRUM Master, which helped me grow my skills in agility and project management. This role also gave me insight into other parts of the company, as I interacted with teams across multiple departments.
At the beginning of this year, I transitioned into a Product Owner position. I now define the direction of various projects and prioritize work for my team.
What do you like most about your current role at SICPA?
I really enjoy the balance between technical depth and ownership. I get to tackle complex challenges while having the autonomy to shape solutions and influence decisions.
How has SICPA supported your professional growth?
SICPA has given me the space to grow at my own pace. I’ve been encouraged to take on more responsibility, supported through training and mentoring, and trusted with increasingly strategic tasks.
What are the most valuable lessons you’ve learned during your time at SICPA?
I’ve learned that growth comes from stepping outside your comfort zone. Collaboration and communication are just as essential as technical skills.
What motivates you to come to work every day?
First and foremost, my colleagues! I’m lucky to work with smart and funny people, and I enjoy both collaborating with them and sharing laughs around the coffee machine.
I also appreciate the challenging environment we work in. The innovative mindset here means we’re constantly exploring new ideas and turning them into exciting projects
What advice would you give to someone starting their career at SICPA?
Be proactive and stay curious. Don’t hesitate to ask for help people here are happy to support you. And don’t be afraid to take initiative or make mistakes; you’re here to learn and grow!
Where do you see yourself growing next within SICPA?
I’m looking forward to taking on more leadership responsibilities and continuing to contribute to strategic initiatives that shape the future of our technology.
