Since when have you been working at SICPA and what is your role within the company?
I have been working at SICPA for about two years. I am currently in my second year of a logistics apprenticeship within the Supply Chain department.
What made you want to apply to SICPA?
I chose to do my apprenticeship at SICPA because the company really interested me. I discovered that it uses technologies and operates in fields that are not commonly found in other companies, which made me want to learn more. I also had the opportunity to complete an internship at SICPA, and I enjoyed it very much, which confirmed my decision.
What are the main tasks you perform in your logistics role?
In my job, I carry out various logistics-related tasks. I am responsible for receiving and shipping goods, managing inventory, storing and organising items, and labeling products. We also support other departments, such as Production. My work is quite varied and covers several aspects of the logistics field.
Do you have a typical workday in your role?
I do not have a typical workday because every day is different. One day I may focus on a single task, while the next day I may be doing something completely different. No two days are the same, and that is what I like about my apprenticeship. There is not one task that I prefer over another. What I enjoy most is the variety of activities and responsibilities.
Do you have the opportunity to discover different departments during your apprenticeship?
Yes, my apprenticeship includes a kind of rotation through different departments. I started in Receiving, Shipping, and Manufacturing Orders, which is my main department. I have also had the opportunity to spend time in the Laboratory, Production, and Quality departments. I also visited the Chavornay site to see how operations work there. I spent one day there and should return for a two-week assignment. I will also have the opportunity to discover the Purchasing department in Prilly.
However, I mainly work in Bussigny within my primary department. I really enjoy being there because it is a small team where everyone knows each other, and the atmosphere feels very family-oriented.
How would you describe the working atmosphere at SICPA?
I get along very well with my trainer and the rest of the team. I completed several internships before joining SICPA, and I had never experienced such a positive working atmosphere anywhere else.
What does your apprenticeship bring you, and what is your greatest achievement since you started?
My apprenticeship gives me the motivation to continue developing in my profession and to keep progressing. My greatest achievement so far is being able to set goals for myself and successfully achieve them. I have improved in areas where I was not particularly strong before. I set these goals together with my trainer. We discuss them and decide what suits me best. We usually review them about once a year, although sometimes earlier if the goals have already been reached.
What advice would you give to a future apprentice who would like to join SICPA?
My advice to a future apprentice would be to be yourself and stay motivated.
