Empowering women in STEM

SICPA is committed to building a more gender balanced workforce and supports different projects and associations such as Women in Cyber (Switzerland) and Women in Tech (Global). These associations provide training and resources, the possibility to network and exchange to encourage women to pursue careers in STEM.

Moreover, our company is deeply committed to a fair and equitable compensation strategy for every employee. In 2021, SICPA in Switzerland successfully completed the analysis and subsequent audit on equal pay, under the new provisions of the Swiss law on equality between men and women, qualifying it as an “Equal Pay” employer.

In addition, SICPA Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Spain and Switzerland participate to the United Nations Global Compact initiatives, such as the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) and the Target Gender Equality acceleration program. These offer tools and guidance to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace, marketplace and community.

Next to purely gender pay gap, SICPA has launched various programmes aimed at providing equal opportunities for career advancement and skill development.

I am currently in the second year of my Logistics apprenticeship within SICPA’s Supply Chain department. My responsibilities include receiving and shipping goods, managing inventory, and labeling items. What I enjoy most about my apprenticeship is the variety of tasks and the opportunity to discover different departments. I am also fortunate to work in a team with a very friendly, family-like atmosphere.

Alicia Sadiki, Finance Intern, Switzerland

I am currently completing a long-term internship at SICPA while pursuing my studies in International Business Management at HEG. Within the Finance department, I support the Business Finance and Controlling teams in a variety of operational activities. This experience allows me to apply the concepts I learn in class, particularly in accounting and finance. I especially appreciate the opportunity to explore different areas of finance, the company's international environment, and the support and kindness of my team. This experience is also helping me gain a better understanding of the professional world and develop valuable skills for my future career.

I've been working at SICPA for a little over three years as a Mediamatics apprentice in the marketing department. I mainly handle creating visual content, including product photography, videos, and brochures. It's actually this variety that I enjoy most about my apprenticeship. I can go from photography to designing a brochure and then work on tasks that are more marketing-focused. The atmosphere is pleasant and supportive, which makes learning even more enjoyable on a daily basis. My apprenticeship has taught me a lot and is a real advantage for my future career.

What I appreciate most about my apprenticeship at SICPA is the variety of my tasks. During our three-year apprenticeship, we move to a different department each year, which allows us to discover different aspects of the profession. Marlyse Demartin Maeder, Head of Features & Detection, Switzerland

With over twenty years of experience at SICPA, Marlyse embodies inspiring female leadership in a scientific and technological field where women remain still under-represented. Now leading the Security Features & Detection department, she oversees five laboratories and a team of 80 people, with a management style based on listening, cohesion, and conviction.
